Robert AL is a leading figure in academic innovation and venture creation, currently serving as Director of the Technology Transfer Office at Erasmus MC, one of Europe’s foremost academic medical centers. With an MBA and RTTP accreditation, Robert brings over 20 years of experience in translating biomedical research into high-impact startups and commercial partnerships.

His core expertise lies in building and scaling academic spin-offs. Under his leadership, Erasmus MC is developing a thriving pipeline of ventures and a brand new Incubator to be opened at the end of 2026. Robert has advised dozens of research teams on startup formation, business modeling, and venture financing, helping transform scientific breakthroughs into viable companies. He has also personally been involved in successfully spinning out a novel diagnostic technology from the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam and scaling the company until its acquisition.
