Alexandra Brodie is one of the UK’s leading IP litigators. Based in London, she is described by Legal 500 as “calm and unflappable under pressure, [with] an excellent understanding of the field and how to achieve a client’s commercial objectives, as well as a superb sense of litigation strategy and an eye for detail.“ and by Chambers & Partners as “a great strategist and tactician who knows how to position for success at every level of trial”. Managing IP regularly ranks Alexandra as one of the Global Top 250 Women in IP year-on-year.
Alexandra has been litigating all IP rights since the mid-90s and has enjoyed particular success in the field of telco/SEP/FRAND patents which has seen her engage with numerous different communications technologies and multiple standards setting organisations. She and the team have secured a number of strategic firsts and have delivered numerous technical wins with the Court determining patents valid, infringed and essential. Alexandra’s case load has seen her collaborate with litigation teams in the US, Germany, France, China, India, Spain, Brazil and Mexico to develop global strategies to meet and deliver her clients’ goals. Her team is one of only two in the UK to have brought a FRAND trial before the UK courts on behalf of a patentee and they achieved the first appellate level valuation judgment from the Courts in InterDigital v Lenovo.
In addition to patent litigation Alexandra co-founded the global firm’s Tech Sector and has also co-founded the firm’s AI Group which she continues to co-lead.
Alexandra is passionate about the need to encourage a diverse environment with opportunities for all and is the lead partner for the firm’s focus on socio-economic diversity via our engagement in the PRIME initiative.
