Managing Partner

Marko Brumnik is Managing Partner at Sonnenberg Harrison, an international intellectual property law firm, where he advises clients on securing, managing, and strategically leveraging their IP portfolios. His career began at the European Patent Office, where he gained a unique perspective on patent examination processes and developed a strong foundation at the intersection of technology, law, and business.

Over the course of his career, Marko has worked with a wide spectrum of clients – from innovative deep-tech start-ups and growing SMEs to established multinational corporations. He is particularly focused on ensuring that intellectual property strategies are not only legally sound but also closely aligned with technical innovation and commercial objectives. His work emphasizes the transformation of complex technical ideas into robust, enforceable, and valuable IP assets that support long-term business success.

Beyond his client work, Marko actively contributes to the broader IP community. He regularly lectures on intellectual property in the context of digital technologies, with a focus on how emerging trends such as artificial intelligence and data-driven innovation are reshaping the IP landscape. Committed to the development of future leaders in the field, he also dedicates significant time to mentoring and supporting young professionals. He currently serves as Chair of the Young Members Congress (YMC) within LES International, as well as of LES Austria, where he leads initiatives to foster international collaboration and professional growth among early-career IP practitioners.
